On Friday, March 13, 2020, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, announced the declaration of a health emergency due to the arrival of Coronavirus in Uruguay, following the confirmation of four cases in our territory. Partial closure of borders was initiated, mandatory quarantine for passengers from countries declared as high-risk, immediate suspension of public events, and the non-attendance control in educational centers. The first isolation measures for the population were also announced. "Antisocial Distance" emerged at the beginning of the quarantine, at a moment when the weight of reality was suddenly and violently imposed on us: a kind of undeserved penance that continues to this day, which we had to go through with no other choice than waiting, uncertainty, or artistic creation. Our project captures in real-time those initial symptoms of unreality, where collaborative work served not only as a means of salvation but as a trigger to create something greater. Each of us faced the challenge of creating and reflecting within our own isolation (in this case, through photography and literature), not only on the concept of distancing but also on a problem that was (or is) not artistic: how the rupture in social life affected us.
